La Pousse d'Or is a celebrated domaine in Volnay, made famous buy
Gerard Potel who owned the vineyard from 1964 until he had to sell in
the late 1990s. After a tricky patch the wines are back on form: the
estate has recently been revitalized by Patrick Landanger, whose debut
vintage was 1999.
Landanger is a quality fanatic who takes great care in both the
vineyard and winery. He is interested in biodynamics. The dedication
to quality is evidenced by the fact that the entire 2001 harvest from
2001 was declassified to Volnay Villages level after hailstorms struck
in August just before the vintage.
Pousse d'Or owns three monopoles (where the entire vineyard has
only one owner): Clos de la Bousse d'Or, Clos des 60 Ouvrées and Clos
d'Audignac.
